چکیده

Abstract Introduction Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has emerged as a valid and disease-specific outcome measure in cardiac patients. Cardiac rehabilitation (CR), core component secondary prevention, not only improves cardiovascular outcomes, but also HRQOL. Unfortunately, CR is still underutilized, especially among women older Aim this study was to highlight age- sex-specific effects on Method A sample 8286 patients (mean age 69.2±11.47 years; men 67.8±11.29, 72.2±11.25) analyzed. Patients were prospectively asessed from 2012 2018 six Swiss clinics. HRQOL measured at entry discharge using the MacNew Heart Disease questionnaire. In multivariate analyses, we estimated sex- age-specific changes during CR, adjusting for clinical characteristics. Results Women scored lower any subdomain admission (social M = 5.05 (SD 1.3); emotional 5.06±1.17; physical 4.36±1.72), compared 5.2±1.23); 5.35±1.1; 4.43±1.76). showed greater improvement social (F=10.98, p<0.001), (F=17.73, p<0.001) (F=9.47, p=0.002). subgroup elderly (>76 years) female sex predicted higher (F=10.878, (F=1.424, p=0.232) (F=2.272, p=0.132). Conclusion report poorer all subdomains men, turn particularly benefit regard. patients, true Our results indicate that needs should be considered CR. Sex Differences in Age-Related Cardiovascular Mortality

INTRODUCTION Sex-related physiological differences result in different expressions of diseases for men and women. Data are contradicting regarding the increase in the female risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) at mid-life. Thus, we studied possible sex differences in age-adjusted mortality for CVD and non-vascular diseases stratifying our findings by specific age groups. METHODS Over one mi...

Age‐ and sex‐related differences in diastolic function and cardiac dimensions in a hypertensive population

AIMS The prevalence of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction increases with age, particularly in hypertensive women. We aimed to determine the age- and sex-related differences in diastolic function, and its relation to alterations of cardiac dimensions in a hypertensive population. METHODS AND RESULTS We enrolled 479 hypertensive patients with a left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥50%...

Sex- and age-related differences in bilirubin concentrations in serum.

The relation between age and sex and the concentration of bilirubin in serum was evaluated in 6740 men and 11 215 women, ages 13 to 96 years. Mean serum bilirubin concentrations in the men significantly exceeded values in the women over all age groups examined. Further, mean serum bilirubin concentrations were greatest both in males and females in the 19-24 years age group and then declined to ...
